Success is not always an overnight thing?
It took years before I could consider myself a success in network marketing. I’m sure you have wondered if you are doing something wrong, if you are jinxed, why can they, but I can’t. I hear ya, I felt the same way. I could market my opportunity exactly like everyone else and get zero results. I think, it’s because of attitude. Simply that! Attitude. And sometimes, life forces you to.
There comes a time when we need to make a big change. Even if we didn’t plan it. We can feel completely overwhelmed, lost, in a state of despair and quite desperate.
We look for that magic pill, magic wand to wave or miracle to make it all go away. The reality is that it just doesn’t work that way.
And just like you, I have faced some of these challenges on a business and personal level and to be honest many times, I just wanted to wave a wand and make it all go away.
However, I have learned some personal lessons on how to make small changes that will result in nice big positive changes in life.
My husband Don was diagnosed with terminal cancer. What can you do? How do you handle that? We cried, we hugged, we faced it together. Two years after the diagnosis, Don passed and I felt totally lost. I was so overwhelmed and I just didn’t know what to do next. I wandered aimlessly, back and forth to work not knowing, not really wanting to continue. 28 years of marriage and now I’m lost…
The medical bills that needed to be paid, the property taxes… you know, life! How could I possibly deal with it all? I’m just me now! Me, alone, not much motivation to pick myself up and move on.
Then one day, a friend called me and said she got started in network marketing and just knew I’d be good at it, well, I started. Good at it? Not at all! Chasing, begging friends and family is not what I’d call good. I started buying leads, not much progress there either. My space, ummmm no! Then Facebook came along. It was easier to talk with other people having the same issues, it was still hard to make sales though. But I did make same or I probably would have just given up completely!
Then one day, during an outing, I met my future husband. It didn’t take long before we decided we were the perfect fit! We were married exactly 1 year after we met! Wow! I never dreamed I find another husband, let alone one that felt like I’ve known him forever! Who feels what I feel, who wants to succeed as much as me!
We both felt lost before that day, we were both working, but struggling to make ends meet. We married, we were able to work together and came up with a strategy that was measurable from a commitment and timing perspective and just focused on that. We took it one week at a time and worked through all the problems.
Now we look back and we can’t believe that it seems like an almost distant memory.
We were “working together as a team”.
We broke down everything we needed to do into smaller “chunks” and worked out way through to becoming happier and stress free! With each bill paid, we became happier and more confident! We both decided we wanted to start our own business! With the amount of money it takes to start a business (the insurances, the products, the knowledge) we decided our business was going to be online… and we still are!
We have tried and failed with numerous companies, some our own fault, some the business sold, changed comp plans, or just flat out went out of business for any number of reasons!
Does that stop us? NO!!! These periods of discomfort can motivate you learn more, to try harder and wait for the magic pill or the miracle to come rescue you.
Just decide to start making changes in your mind that you will succeed, you will take action, you will increase your chances of reaching your goals and being a success.
Remember it only takes a small shift in your thinking everyday that over time amounts to huge change.
I want to share the following five changes that I read from another network marketer, that will help make it easier for you to find success… It puts into words, what we did.
Here are five tips to help you make small changes that will have a MASSIVE impact on your life.
- Vision – Create the vision in your mind of what you want. What is it you want in the next five years? What will you do for work? Where do you live? How do you spend your free time? What do your relationships look like? Go into as much detail for every aspect. You have to have a vision if you want to know where you’re going.
- Break It Down – Looking at your ultimate vision can be overwhelming especially if it looks a lot different from where you are now. To avoid that break it down into years, months, weeks and days. That way you have something to focus on each day that will keep you moving closer to your vision by making small steps each day
- Focus – Make your life vision and the changes you want to make your absolute priority. You can’t just do the things when you have the time! NO! It requires constant focus and energy. Place your focus and energy on what you want and not on your problems and where you don’t want to be.
- Acceptance – Accept where you are right now. “What you resist, persists” is one of my favorite quotes. Own your current situation and don’t blame life, events, clovers or any thing else. It is not because you’re bad. Just acknowledge you’re not where you want to be and you’re going to change that.
Action – Nothing will materialize in our lives if we don’t take action. A vision is just a dream unless we take action. If you want to make change you have to take action and you have to do it consistently. So start with the smallest step you can and keep moving forward.
To your future success,
